UD lifelong learning open houses set for Aug. 5-8
Community invited to visit OLLI locations in Dover, Lewes, Ocean View, Wilmington
The community is invited to learn about the University of Delaware’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) by attending an open house in Lewes (Aug. 5), Wilmington (Aug. 6), Ocean View (Aug. 7) or Dover (Aug. 8).
As a volunteer-driven learning cooperative for adults age 50-plus, UD OLLI has over 2,500 active members and holds classes throughout Delaware and online, featuring a variety of learning and social opportunities with no exams or grades.
A highlight this fall will be four classes in Newark, including Exploring UD, Latin (beginning and intermediate) and Understanding Heart Disease.
Fall classes start Sept. 3, with course topics like:
The Aug. 5-8 open houses feature classroom tours and refreshments, with opportunities to meet volunteers and OLLI participants, and pick up a course catalog. In-person registration will be available. The OLLI open houses take place 10 a.m. to noon — except for the Wilmington event, which is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — at OLLI’s primary classroom locations:
OLLI registration consists of one flat $260 membership fee for the fall semester, which includes unlimited classes and activities at all UD OLLI locations and online. Delaware residence or prior OLLI membership is not required, and need-based financial assistance is available.
