Teen Books For Adults (H901)

H – Literature

Graphic of Delaware with New Castle County Highlighted

Wilmington (Arsht Hall) | July 9, 2024-July 23, 2024

Tuesday: 9:00 AM-10:15 AM

Get a taste of young adult literature by reading and discussing three award-winning books published for adolescents. How good do you think it is? What topics are addressed? Why are so many young adult books being challenged? Participants must read the book-of-the-week prior to attending class and be prepared for guided discussion, critical analysis, and personal responses. The chosen award-winning books represent a variety of genre, multicultural characters, and both new and established authors. All books this year have won significant awards, and we will discuss the why. The instructor will provide author and background information as appropriate, using both power point and video clips.

Three books to be read prior to class:

Week 1: A FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING by Dan Santat

Week 2: I MUST BETRAY YOU by Ruta Sepetys

Week 3: DIG by A.S. King

This offering meets for a total of 3 session(s).
