How did the lean years before 1945 shape his breakthrough plays, The Glass Menagerie (1945) and A Streetcar Named Desire (1947)?

HAMPEL, ROBERT–B.A., Yale; Ph.D., Cornell. Taught at the University of Delaware from 1985 to 2022. Author of six books on 19th and 20th-century American history, now studies how economic assumptions shaped the work of talented writers and eminent investors.
