Researching Family History and Genealogy: African American and Indigenous Americans (E900)

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 10:45 AM-12:00 PM

We will discuss methods to research African American and Indigenous American family history and genealogy using online resources. Both free and paid websites will be discussed, e.g., FamilySearch, Ancestry, state and university libraries. It is difficult to trace African American and Indigenous American ancestry; this course will attempt to offer various alternative methods which might help improve one’s chances of success. These tools can also be extended to other areas of research.

INSTRUCTOR: John Roberts

ROBERTS, JOHN–Retired from Playtex Products (Energizer) in 2008. Has an interest in researching family genealogy and history and has acquired extensive research skills using internet resources.
