H – Literature

Graphic of a computer

Online | September 6, 2024-October 4, 2024

Friday: 9:00 AM-10:30 AM

Almost all immigrants to America have faced prejudice, violence and racism. However, some have faced overwhelming obstacles in their search for equality. One group is those of Japanese descent. In this course we will study the history of the Japanese Americans by reading literature detailing their struggles as they strive to overcome injustice and trauma in their quest to be accepted as American citizens. Please read The Buddha in the Attic by Julie Otsuka for the first class.
