Explore the rich tapestry of gospel music. Join us and embark on a captivating journey in this three-part series. Each session delves into a distinct era, exploring its cultural context, musical influences and lasting impact. This engaging program is perfect for music enthusiasts, history buffs and those curious about the rich heritage of gospel music.

  • Thurs. 7/11 (Summer Selections Week 3):  The Seeds are Sown (1700s-1920s)
  • Thurs. 7/18 (Summer Selections Week 4):  The Sound Takes Flight (1920s-1960s)
  • Thurs. 7/25 (Summer Selections Week 5): Gospel’s Enduring Legacy (1960s-today)

Available as a full-session offering, or as part of Summer Selections weekly packages. Each session can be enjoyed as a standalone.

MALCOLM, PATRICIA–B.A., vocal music education, Delaware State University, and graduate of Wilmington University. Archdeacon for the Diocese of Delaware, deacon of Christ Church in Dover, DE. Interim choral director at Christ Church.

WATKINS, SUSAN–M.S., nursing, Rutgers University. Retired registered nurse with a wide range of interests including tai chi, history, music, literature and theatre. Loves to research new subjects and find innovative ways to present the material.
