Historic New Castle Walking Tour (G907)

G – History

Meet us in Historic New Castle for a curated walking tour to visit an amazing variety of remarkably preserved historic buildings from the 17th through the 19th centuries, some with professional tours. A tall ship may be at the dock! There will be time to enjoy lunch and browse antique shops.

There will be approximately $5 in tour fees; and lunch is on your own.

Accessibility note: Many streets have uneven brick sidewalks, and some buildings require the use of stairs. See syllabus for details.

INSTRUCTORS: Glenn Rill, Suzanne Souder

RILL, GLENN–B.S., mathematics and M.S., computer science, University of Maryland. Retired after 40-year career in computer technology. Interests include tennis, golf, guitar, traveling and all types of music.

SOUDER, SUZANNE–B.A., sociology, University of Delaware, minor in history. 35 years working in Social Security field offices retiring as a district manager. A member of New Castle City Council since 2019, now council President. Enjoys cooking, hiking, photography, tennis, travel, biking, and reading history, cosmology, political science and biographies.
