Sewing for Revolutionary War Reenactment (G912)

A presentation of handsewn items worn and used by soldiers and camp followers while on campaign with the Continental Army. Examples of uniforms, civilian attire and camp gear are displayed and examined. Hand sewing techniques are explained.

INSTRUCTOR: Marsha Bell

BELL, MARSHA– B.A., anthropology, Binghamton University. Self-taught “sewist” specializing in hand-sewn reproductions of 18th-century attire. She and her husband are civilian members of Colonel Ogden’s 1st New Jersey Regiment of the Continental Line.
